PB First Global is building the firm with its’ Tax Litigation Expansion
The Federal Tax Authority continues to increase its vigilance in enforcing the UAE’s tax laws. With corporate taxation now in place, taxpayers must ensure full compliance.
When disagreements arise with the Federal Tax Authority—and they often do with new taxes—taxpayers can now access leading practitioners who can present their position clearly and respectfully.
We are therefore excited to announce that Imran Shafi KC, a leading English advocate and part-time judge, now works with us in the PB First Tax and Advisory Tax Litigation practice in Dubai.
Our clients now gain access, in one place, to a respected advocate and some of the region’s most experienced tax academics and professionals. This combined expertise ensures strong support whenever taxpayers need assistance.
Our team will gladly review the compatibility of your structures with the rules. When the rules appear unclear, we will advise on best practices to reduce the risk of disputes. The Authority can impose substantial penalties, so avoiding common traps is essential.
If the Authority disagrees with your position, we stand ready to guide your company through the appeals process.

Dispute Resolution and Tax Litigation Support
When conflicts arise with tax authorities, as they often do, we help resolve them. We use traditional methods, including objections and direct discussions, or supplementary procedures such as formal appeals through the courts or arbitration. We provide clear, thoughtful advice directly to clients or in support of their existing advisers.
Differences of opinion may involve VAT, corporate income tax, personal tax, or customs duty. They may involve administrative or financial matters, and they may concern taxes or penalties. They may also involve domestic or cross-border issues, including mutual agreement procedures or more complex matters.
Our dispute resolution team includes an English King’s Counsel who also serves as a part-time judge, alongside experts with two doctorates in taxation and experienced financial accountants. When allowed by law or regulation, we file appeals directly with the Tax Authority or with an external Tribunal. We work closely with the King’s Counsel when he holds audience rights, and we partner with selected local advocates when he does not. In all cases, our team prepares the file, attends hearings when permitted, and liaises directly with the Authority.
Our UAE dispute resolution and tax litigation support team is unique: we are the only firm with two PhDs in tax and a King’s Counsel.
